CBD Edibles

How to Make CBD Edibles at Home

Brownies. Gummies. Cookies. What could be better?

How about brownies, gummies, and cookies that relieve nausea and anxiety, ease physical aches and pains, improve mood, and lower blood pressure?

If that sounds like culinary sorcery, think again. Welcome to the wonderful world of CBD edibles.

CBD edibles can be basically any tasty dish you can think of, with just one extra ingredient: cannabidiol. Cannabidiol is a safe, legal, and non-psychotropic (translation: it won’t get you stoned) compound found in cannabis plants. So CBD edibles are basically pot brownies without all that mind-altering THC and those pesky criminal charges.

Any good CBD vendor will have plenty of edibles for sale, but if you’re a hands-on type of person you might want to try making your own. Believe it or not, it’s really not that hard. Just follow these helpful tips and you’ll be making your own delicious CBD treats in no time.

Gather your ingredients

Obviously the first step towards making your own CBD snacks is to, well, buy CBD. But in what form? There are a lot of different CBD delivery methods, from dabs to tinctures to ointments. Unless you want your cookies to come out tasting like foot cream, though, you should probably skip the last one.

Your best bet is CBD oil and/or CBD butter. These will either accompany or replace whatever other oil or butter that the dish you’re making might call for. Butter is best used for sweet treats like cakes and pastries, while oil is ideal for more savory creations such as sauces, dressings, soups, and dips.

Know your dosage

Keep in mind, just because a recipe calls for a full cup of cooking oil doesn’t mean all of that oil has to be CBD oil. It’s important to know what the “strength” of your oil or butter is (in other words, how much CBD it actually contains). Look at how many servings the recipe you’re preparing makes, then divide that from the CBD content of your oil or butter to determine how much CBD you and any other hungry snackers will be ingesting.

It’s important that you already have some experience taking CBD before making your own edibles. Since there is no “standard” dose amount and since not everyone takes CBD to treat the same conditions, how much you want to have in each serving is entirely up to you.
