Coolsculpting ® Treatment

What To Expect Before, During, And  After  A  Coolsculpting ® Treatment.

Coolsculpting treatment is a non-invasive body contouring procedure that can help reduce fatty bulges in areas such as the abdominal region and love handles. The procedure uses controlled cooling to tighten skin tissue, which produces more muscle activity. Over time, this results in an overall improvement of body shape and fat distribution. But what exactly happens during a coolsculpting treatment? What should you expect before, during, and after your appointment? Let’s find out!

What To Expect Before CoolSculpting® Treatment

If you’ve never undergone a coolsculpting treatment before then it’s important to understand what to expect when you first go into treatment. Coolsculpting is a relatively new procedure; however, it’s been available in various forms for around 20 years.

First, you’ll receive a consultation with a coolsculpting specialist. During this consultation you will meet with your medical practitioner to discuss the areas of your body that you wish to address. Your practitioner will take time to listen to you carefully and answer all your questions regarding the procedure so that you can make an informed choice. The coolsculpting specialist may recommend pre-treatment bloodwork or a skin biopsy as part of your requirements prior to treatment so that an accurate diagnosis can be achieved.

What To Expect During CoolSculpting® Treatment:

The procedure involves treating the area of concern with a specially designed applicator. The applicator works by freezing fat cells, hence killing them. This process begins with a gentle cooling, which is immediately followed by the contraction of the applicator that pulls your skin inwards towards the centre of the treatment area. The dead fat cells will then be eliminated naturally through excretion.

During the initial stage of the procedure, you may experience some minor discomfort but this will normally subside as the treatment goes on. In most cases, this pain is experienced because the body’s natural response is to resist cooling and contract during the procedure. This results in a strong sensation of pressure on your skin, lasting for approximately 30 to 60 seconds.

Once the area of concern has been treated you should be left with a mild soreness that may last for approximately two days. You won’t feel any major discomfort following the treatment and will return to normal activities as soon as possible. However, topical creams can be applied to reduce any discomfort that might occur during your recovery phase.  It’s also important to understand that you will need several treatments over the course of several weeks to achieve optimum results.

What To Expect After CoolSculpting® Treatment

Once you’ve had your first treatment, you should not expect to experience immediate results. The area will be swollen for several hours after treatment but the discomfort should quickly subside after about an hour or two. After some days though, you’ll begin to feel that the fat in your body is being naturally and naturally eliminated from various areas of your body; therefore, there may be a temporary improvement in fat distribution immediately following treatment but it may not be long before you begin to see more substantial results. Most patients can expect up to 20%-25% reduction of fat after their first treatment.

Various factors can affect how many treatments you’ll need in order to achieve your desired results. For example, a person with a higher initial body fat percentage is likely to need more treatments than a patient with a lower body fat percentage and vice versa. However, it’s recommended that you allow at least 3-5 weeks before re-evaluating your results. Indeed, each case is unique so the number of sessions needed may vary from one person to another. Make sure you schedule regular follow-up appointments with your practitioner and discuss any aftercare procedures prior to proceeding with treatment.

Following the procedure, typical side effects include skin bruising and pain associated with the surroundings. However, typical side effects are usually minimal, so they should immediately disappear with topical creams.

To obtain the best possible results, you have to understand what to expect during and after a coolsculpting treatment. The procedure involves no downtime and produces effective results. So make sure you schedule an appointment with your practitioner as soon as possible!
