What Is AVB? The Ultimate Guide

Around 48% of American adults say they’ve used cannabis at some point.

One of the best ways to enjoy bud is by vaping because it’s discreet, tasty, and healthier than smoking. But many tokers are missing out on AVB, a fantastic byproduct that prolongs your cannabis supply.

But what is AVB? Great question! Luckily, you’ve come to the right place where we’ll break it down for you.

What Is ABV?

You’re here because you’re wondering “what is ABV?” and “should I use AVB?”

AVB stands for “already been vaped“. Many people, after they vape, dump their used cannabis into the trash but this is a major no-no because it still contains important compounds.

If you’re guilty of doing this, collect your ABV so you’ll get a smoke that’s longer-lasting and more potent than vaping fresh herbs. Note that the darker the ABV, the lower the quality of the residue as it contains less THC.

To answer your question “is AVB safe?”, know that it is as long as you store your AVB in a sealed mason jar and keep it in a dry place. You can keep AVB for an extended period, all that happens is the potency subsides.

The Perfect Quantity of ABV

We’ve answered “what is AVB” and now we’ll discuss how much to add to your vape. It’s difficult to tell because it depends on your vape, the temperature, and your toking technique. As a general rule, if you’ve got lighter ABV then two grams will give you a great buzz but experiment, starting slow, and see what works best for you.

ABV produces a relaxed body high, fantastic for winding down or before bed. But because the concentration of CBD is higher in ABV, turn your vape’s temperature down so you get a nice kick.

How to Use ABV

The beauty of ABV is you can get creative and enjoy it in a wide range of ways. Whether you vape it or whip it up into creamy butter, there’s a method for every AVB enthusiast. Take these, for example:

ABV Tincture

A great way to reap the AVB benefits is by transforming it into a tincture. To do this, fill a wide-mouthed mason jar with your AVB herbs and cover it with strong, drinkable alcohol (vodka is the most common). Seal the jar and store it in the freezer for four weeks, giving it a shake once a day.

Once it’s ready, strain your ABV mixture through a coffee filter and pour it into a dropper bottle. The mixture may not smell or taste fantastic but it’ll be potent which is the most important thing.

Squeeze the top of the dropper and hold the liquid under your tongue for a few seconds before swallowing. If you can’t stand the taste of alcohol then add a drop into a glass of water. When you first try this, wait two hours for the effects to settle in and top up if you want more.

Firecrackers

Hardcore ABV aficionados can stomach eating the bud raw but it tastes like burned popcorn. To make the experience more enjoyable, make ABV firecrackers as it covers the flavor.

First, heat your oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit, get a graham cracker along with peanut butter or Nutella. Spread your desired topping and sprinkle a generous amount of ABV buds over it. Next, cover your firecracker with foil and pop it in the oven until the peanut butter or Nutella completely melts. Then serve!

Capsules

Capsules are a quick and convenient way to enjoy your AVB especially if you’re after an intense high. You’ll need a batch of 00-sized capsules and a capping machine for this to work.

Put your desired amount in a coffee grinder, it must be fine because it creates a better surface area and makes it more potent. Once it’s at a good consistency, use the capping machine to fill your capsules depending on how strong your AVB is. Note that if your AVB is darker then you’ll want more capsules.

Take them one or two at a time and wash them down with milk because it’s got more fat which enhances your AVB’s potency. You’ll feel the effects after an hour and it’s like an edible high.

Butter

ABV butter is a great way to enjoy the effects of the herb with your favorite food. You can use it as a replacement for fat in baked goods or drizzle it over a salad.

To make it, mix your ABV herbs with butter and water then pour it into a saucepan. Heat the mixture at a low temperature (not past 314 degrees Fahrenheit), and let it simmer for three hours. Once finished, pour the mixture through a coffee filter into a glass bowl and put it in the refrigerator until the oil solidifies.

When it’s ready, you’ll find a solid layer of oil floating atop the water which you must remove and transfer the butter into another bowl for storage. Discard the water because it’s drawn out of the ABV’s flavor while the beneficial compounds are still in the butter.

Understanding AVB

Now you know the answer to “what is ABV”.

There are many uses for ABV whether you want to cook it into your favorite pasta dish or add it into capsules so you can get high on-the-go. Make sure you seal your AVB herbs in a sealed jar and slowly increase your dose as you get more comfortable with the potent high. Enjoy!
