HOW TO FIND THE RIGHT LIFE COACH FOR YOU

These days it seems like every third person on Instagram claims to be a life coach adelaide. It can be difficult to tell which coaches are high-quality and who is just looking for money. On top of that, how do you know which coach or company is the right one for you?

There are a number of key factors to consider when deciding the right life coach for you. If they’re not on your wavelength, then it’s going to be difficult and frustrating working with them because we all want someone who understands what our situation is already. That doesn’t mean that good coaching relationships can’t happen with a coach who is not your perfect match, but you may need to work much harder on the relationship and it might take longer for them to understand what you’re going through.

So how do we find someone that is likely our best fit?

Before you hire your life coach first, ask yourself some of these questions:

Are they trained in psychology, sociology, or a related field? Do they have a clinical degree in psychology (e.g., Ph.D., Psy.D.)?

Do I want to work with someone who has expertise in my area of need?

Is it important for me to be able to see the coach face-toface during sessions?

Do I want to work on a specific focus, such as; confidence, depression or anxiety?

How much time each week am I willing to spend with my coach and what is the average cost per hour for coaching sessions in your area of need?

Make sure a Life Coach is actually what you’re after:

Put simply, coaching is different from mentor or counselling. Of the three, each has unique characteristics which you should know if you’re looking to hire a coach. Unlike a mentor, a life coach is not there to offer guidance and advice based on his/her own experiences. Sure, they might occasionally offer a suggestion or two, but for the most part, your life coach will ask powerful questions to help you find the right answers and solutions for you.

Determine if they are Trained and Certified:

Coaching is based on scientific research and well-trained, qualified coaches utilize evidence-based coaching models in their work. For example, to call yourself a therapist you legally need to hae certain level of training; there are no equivalent regulations for coaches.

Ask Them about Their Coaching Style:

Life coach styles vary, depending on the personality and training of the coach. Some sessions are very organized and structured, while others are more free-flowing with an emphasis on feeling out where you’re at right now. Some coaches offer a warm loving space that is supportive to help you get what you want, while other coaches can push you to your goals.

Determine the Cost:

Choosing a life coach is a personal decision with many variables. You will want to consider factors such as cost, personality and desired outcome when selecting a coach.
