The college girl’s guide to improve skincare routine

If you are a college student, I am sure you feel like life’s running on the third gear. From college assignments and projects to professional courses, college fests, night clubs, concerts, and much more.

Amidst all this, a lot of things take a backfoot, including your skincare routine. Yet, we all want glowing, bright, acne-free skin. To achieve that, all you need to do is simplify your skincare routine. Here’s how you can do that!

1.    Be consistent and disciplined with your skincare routine

Your skin isn’t going to magically start glowing just from the day you start following our few recommendations. You need to stay consistent with it. This requires discipline. In Fact even if you achieve the desired result on your skin, it shouldn’t stop – remember, it’s a routine!

There can be a few days when you don’t feel like it, but you must still push yourself and get it done. So, here is all you need to do –

2.    Keep your skincare routine as simple as possible

Mornings are essential for your skin, and this is when most people follow a routine. You need to do the same. But it need not be like most people, who for instance, have a “10 step morning routine for perfect skin.”

Being a college student, time is a constraint, so make your routine as simple as possible. It should consist of cleansing, toning, moisturizing, and applying sunscreen while going out. And of course, don’t dare forget your lips, unlike many others.

3.    Don’t do it alone

If you have a roomie, pitch her in and work together for your skin. This increases accountability and makes things a lot more fun. Infact, it even reduces your chances of missing your skincare routine.

Some days when she is not willing to get up, you can push her and vice versa. Plus, while buying skin care products, you can also distribute the discounts and avail more.

4.    Use Wipes (A lot of it!)

Do you know the science behind having acne? Your skin pores in the face get clogged up, and this leads to acne formation. So, the bare minimum one needs to do to prevent acne is to keep the pores clean. Wiping your face regularly will help accelerate the process.

Wiping off your face before bed is most important. The entire day you had make-up on, and if that stays overnight as well, pimples find their easy way in. You will also find it very relaxing when after an entire day, you finally let your skin breathe!

5.    Drink Water (It’s literally the gold advice!)

There are so many skin care products, celebs, and people with absolutely gorgeous skins, who have emphasized how important water is for your skin. After all, the human body is 70% Water, don’t you think it plays a role? So, how much water should you drink in a day? Well, no, it’s not 5 liters, in fact, there’s no golden number – it all depends on your body type.

A simple rule of thumb I apply is to drink at least 2 glasses early in the morning, and for the rest of the day, keep drinking as you feel thirsty. This works for most people. You also need to optimize your water consumption depending on the weather. It is wise to drink more water in summer months when your body sweats and is often left dehydrated

6.    Give it time

There is no magic. Things take time, and if you also want to achieve that perfect skin, it will take time. Remember, there will be days when you miss out, and it is completely normal. Don’t beat yourself up. Instead, enjoy the freedom and get back on track the following day! Trust me, it doesn’t matter as much as you think.

Over to you…
