Then my answer is NO. But wait, don’t get relaxed and sit back. Better to face the fact and fact is that it is not a mandatory test, but most high classed and well-reputed universities demand the test during the application process for a master’s degree.

What is the purpose of conducting GRE exams?

The GRE’s primary purpose is to measure the essential analytical, mathematical, arithmetical, geometrical, algebraic concepts. In simple words, if we explained the question is, “that it is used to measure the student’s ability to analyze and evaluate the written material and, on its basis, the critical thinking that it implements to solve any particular problem”.

What types of GRE exams can you give?

There are two types of GRE tests that you can give.

• The GRE subject exam: this GRE subject exam is helpful for prospective masters’ applicants. It usually works as a standard measuring element to examine the candidate’s qualification. The various subjects’ options for the GRE test are biology, chemistry, math, physiques, literature, and psychology.
• The GRE general exam: the available GRE exams are most often required by colleges and schools worldwide, and most commonly, students give the general GRE. Primarily the business conducts this GRE general exam.

What are the patterns of GRE exams?

The written GRE and computer-delivered (online) GRE test usually measures on the three patterns are as follows

But before we discuss in detail the patterns of GRE exams, let me explain to you the difference between the written GRE and computer-delivered GRE. In the computer-delivered GREs, there are two additional measures of GRE that the candidate has to perform to get excellent scores.

Analytical writing reasoning

Analytical reasoning measures the ability of how a candidate puts its ideas effectively and clearly. The primary purpose of this measure is to evaluate the ideas and support your sense and answer it accurately. Sixty minutes are given to answer the question, 30 minutes for written GRE, and 30 minutes for computer-delivered GRE.

Verbal reasoning

A candidate has to perform reasoning for incomplete data, identify author assumptions, understand multiple levels of meaning, and evaluate the author’s intent. An evaluation of this section asked the candidate to sell important points and differentiate main points from minor and irrelevant issues. The verbal reasoning measures the candidate’s ability to analyze the conclusion from the discourse. Also, it measures the ability to understand the structure of the text. Seventy minutes are given to answer the two sections. Thirty-five minutes to answer the written GRE section and 30 minutes to answer the computer-delivered section.

Quantitative reasoning 

The Quantitative reasoning section measures the ability to understand, interpret, analyze, and solve quantitative information by decrypting it with the help of mathematical models, algebraic, geometry, or data analyzing models. Two sections are organized 35 minutes for each computer-delivered section and 40 minutes for each written GRE section.

Unscored reasoning

The unscored reasoning is not marked, and it has no effect on your scores, but it isn’t easy to predict.

Research measure reasoning

The research measure reasoning is also not marked. Both these measures have zero effects on scores and marking.

What is the scoring of GRE?

Now you must be wondering that what is the scoring of the GRE. The total score of GRE is out of 340, and the lowest score is 260. For verbal reasoning, it is 170, but the mean score is 151, and for quantitative reasoning, it is 170, and the mean score is 153. The analytical reasoning measures based on 0 to 6 and a half increment scores, and the mean score is 4.0.
