When should you see a physician? The answer is very obvious. Whenever you feel sick or unwell, you must see a doctor or a physician. But do all of us visit a physician every time we feel unwell? Some of the illnesses are easier to cure with generic home medications.
Also, it is not always serious enough to book an appointment. Though it is always recommended to see a physician as doing medical treatments on your own unless you have sound knowledge about it, it is not the right thing to do.
However, are the critical symptoms only signs when you must see a doctor? Maybe not, as you must take your health seriously. So how do you decide that this is the right time to see a physician? Have a look:
- In case you have a prolonged, persistent fever

But when you see that the fever is getting prolonged or you have a continuous higher temperature, then this is the right time to see a doctor as soon as you can.

- If you have suddenly gained or lost weight
Losing or gaining weight due to your physical activity and change in diet is quite common, and there is nothing to worry about.
However, if the situation worsens, and you find out that you are losing or gaining weight without any proper or significant change in your physical activity or diet, then it is something to worry about. In such cases, you must see a doctor as soon as you can to get tested.
- When you are getting some unusual cold
Cough and cold are very common due to seasonal change. But in case it is getting quite serious and unusual, then you must go to your physician without any kind of delay. Here are the situations when you must see a doctor when you have a cold and cough:
- If you are suffering from severe cough for more than 2 weeks with constant congestion without any signs of cure
- If you have a fever and body ache with your cold, then it can be flu or infection. In such cases, you must go to the doctor to make sure the situation is not getting worse
- As you are feeling extreme difficulty while swallowing or breathing and at the same time you are having chest pain, then take it as a serious health warning.
- If you are experiencing any pain in your body
If you feel some severe abdominal pain for more than one or two weeks, you must take it seriously. It may be a sign of some serious internal issues which are happening. If you do not go to the doctor at an earlier stage, the situation can go out of your hands.
If you have chest pain for more than one or two days, it can indicate some heart-related issues. It can also be the earlier signs of cardiac arrest. This is why it is better to go to a physician as soon as you can.
For the pain in your pelvic area, you must ask your doctor about the kidney infection. At the same time, prolonged headaches also need to be diagnosed and treated earlier to avoid the risk of sinus, migraine, or brain tumor.
- Problems in your eye, ear, or throat:
If you face any pain or abnormal signs in your ear, eye, or throat, you should rush to your physician’s chamber without making any kind of delay. It can be caused due to some serious infections, which can turn out to be the symptoms of any kind of severe health issues.
Before the infection ruins your organs or makes the situation highly painful, you must see a doctor.
It is recommended to perform a routine check-up after every two months to make sure that you are completely healthy. Any of the little or earlier signs of your illness must not be ignored. Do not wait to face the critical symptoms and take precautions from an earlier period.
